Under the direct supervision of the Supervising Property Appraiser (SPA) and the Senior Specialist Property Appraiser (SSPA), the Associate Property Appraiser (APA) serves as a member of the State Board of Equalization's (BOE) Welfare Exemption Section. The APA performs a wide variety of analytical and technical functions as part of co-administering the welf are and veterans' organizations exemptions. The APA researches, reviews, and analyzes various documents to make the initial determination of an organization's eligibility prior to issuing an Organizational Clearance Certificate (OCC) or Supplemental Clearance Certificate (SCC). The incumbent focuses on processing OCC and SCC claim filings of the moderate to more difficult claims, conducts reviews for compliance and provides guidance to taxpayers, County Assessors' and claimants regarding the laws pertaining to the welfare exemption.

  • Position requires employee to have and maintain a valid: California Driver’s License.
  • Maintain a State Board of Equalization (BOE) appraiser certification including continuing education.
  • Computer p roficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and database systems.
  • Travel may be required throughout the state up to ten percent (10%) of the time by automobile and airplane, travel will typically be Monday through Friday and may span several contiguous weeks.
