Job Description

LaSalle Network is currently partnering with a company looking for a Cash Applications Specialist to join their team. The Cash Applications Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely application of incoming payments to customer accounts, managing discrepancies and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with experience in SAP and a strong understanding of accounts receivable processes.

Cash Applications Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Accurately apply daily cash receipts, including checks, wire transfers, ACH and credit card payments to customer accounts in SAP
  • Ensure that payments are posted in accordance with company policies and procedures, minimizing errors and discrepancies
  • Regularly reconcile customer accounts, resolving unapplied cash, deductions and discrepancies
  • Collaborate with the collections team to resolve payment disputes and ensure timely resolution of outstanding balances
  • Communicate effectively with customers to obtain payment remittance details, resolve payment discrepancies and address any inquiries related to account balances
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly and professionally to customer inquiries
  • Generate and analyze daily, weekly and monthly cash application reports to monitor trends, identify issues and ensure the accuracy of the cash application process
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all cash application activities, including payment receipts, customer communications and reconciliation records
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the cash application process, including automation and system enhancements within SAP
  • Collaborate with the IT and finance teams to implement best practices and optimize system functionality
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for cash application activities
Cash Applications Specialist Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable or a related role
  • Proficiency in SAP is required, with hands-on experience in the cash application module
  • Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and cash application procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage high volumes of transactions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams
  • Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
