Classification: Salary, Exempt

Reports To: Field Superintendent

Location: Sioux Falls, SD (with 20% travel)

Job Type: Full-Time

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to join our dynamic team.

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to oversee ground-up commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in a superintendent role, strong leadership abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position provides on-site management and hands-on work as required for all phases of the construction project; coordinating workers, material, and equipment to ensure that specifications are being followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by following the proper industry procedures and wearing appropriate protective equipment.

Location: This is a Sioux Falls, SD based position.

Hours: A typical workday is Monday through Friday from 7:00AM to 4:30PM, actual working hours and days may vary due to project deadlines; May require weekend or evening work at times.

Compensation: Starting at $80,000.00 per year

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have any direct reports but does have accountability for indirectly managing project teams to drive the success of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage commercial construction projects from start to finish.
  • Coordinate and supervise all on-site construction activities.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to plans and specifications.
  • Maintain a safe and clean worksite by enforcing safety regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Utilize project management software to track progress, schedules, and documentation.
  • Conduct regular site meetings to review project status and resolve any issues.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to construction plans.
  • Address and resolve any on-site challenges proactively.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Commercial Construction Superintendent.
  • Proven experience overseeing ground-up commercial builds.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Teams) and construction project management software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to lead and manage employees and subcontractors effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Physical endurance to perform necessary on-site tasks.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings.
  • Availability for some travel outside of Sioux Falls (approximately 20%).
