Description Robert Half Management Resources is seeking a HOA Controller for one of our Homeowners Associations clients on an interim project. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of HOA financials, accounting principles, and excellent organizational and communication skills. The Controller will ensure the accurate and timely delivery of financial reports, manage day-to-day accounting activities, and play a key role in supporting an upcoming system transition. Responsibilities: - Manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations, for assigned HOAs. - Prepare and deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. - Develop and manage HOA budgets, monitor expenses, and provide variance analysis. - Ensure compliance with all relevant state laws, HOA governing documents, and accounting standards. - Assist with the preparation and coordination of audits. - Maintain accurate financial records and documentation. - Communicate effectively with HOA boards, community managers, and vendors regarding financial matters. - Support the implementation of a new accounting system, including data migration, testing, and training. - Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. - Address and resolve accounting-related inquiries from board members, homeowners, and vendors. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong preference for experience in HOA or property management accounting. - Thorough understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and accrual accounting. - Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, or other HOA management software). - Strong Excel skills, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders. - Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy. - Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
