Finance Assistant Location West Hartford, CT : University of Hartford Finance Assistant FLSA Classification NE Reports to Senior Accountant Salary Range H1 Weeks Per Year 52 Work Week 35 hours Position Summary Provides administrative support to ensure the effective operations of the office. Researches, develops and organizes background materials and supports key areas of the University's finance function including general ledger activity and accounts payable. Handles highly sensitive information with confidentiality and tact. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students. Hiring Range Budgeted starting hourly rate is $18.60 to $22.00, depending upon experience Key Responsibilities Monitors the Financial Accounting Services departmental email, and addresses any issues. Prepares various journal entries on a scheduled basis (to include daily cash, postage, printing, restricted funds, etc). Uploads journal vouchers as approved by management to the Banner system; assists in correcting any errors with journal vouchers or feeds from other departments. Reconciles various bank accounts and general ledger accounts including, but not limited to, operating cash, prepaid and accrued expenses. Reviews, verifies and approves interdepartmental journal vouchers for processing and posting to applicable institutional ledger accounts. Coordinates with the Information Technology Services on Banner upgrades in an effort to ensure implementation of new accounting standards. Provides department and University-wide training for the Budget and Finance modules on the appropriate Banner platform. Serves as the secondary security liaison of the financial module of Banner. Reconciles the Accounts Payable/Summary billing processes. Reviews and verifies interdepartmental journal vouchers for data entry. Assists Accounts Payable with check printing process and sends ACH and HigherOne Transactions files. Serves as back up to the University's Accounts Payable process in an effort to ensure timely, accurate payment of the University's obligations. Provides assistance with wire transfers and ACH entries in CashPro, as needed. Provides administrative assistance with various accounts payable activities, including but not limited to processing and uploading weekly P-Card journal entries, assists with 1099s and unclaimed property and audits of P-Card Travel and Expense.
