Alaska Marine Lines is looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working individual that is interested in learning more about the transportation industry. Does that sound like you? If so, you should apply to be our next Freight Checker.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Verify shipping documentation, such as bills of lading, purchase orders and invoices, against physical shipments.
Inspect freight for damage, defects, or discrepancies and report findings to supervisors or managers as needed in addition to legibly documenting freight descriptions, dimensions, and other necessary information.
Affixing labels to the cargo.
Utilize handheld devices when performing freight inspections to record damage, serial numbers, and VINs.
Work outside daily in all weather conditions while on your feet most of the day.
Ability to multitask and change duties as needed. This may include changing locations between Seattle yards.
Coordinate with operations team, truck drivers, and shipping personnel to streamline freight operations.
Document locations of equipment in the yard and on barges, using internal programs and Microsoft Office suite.
Engage with customers and colleagues with professionalism and a positive demeanor.
