Job Description

Job Summary

The Production Painter is responsible for maintaining and operating a variety of different types of spraying equipment. Responsible for preparing, mixing, matching, and applying paint to various fabricated materials. Must be able to read and understand job materials and finishing requirements for precision sheet metal, machining, and finishing. Painter is also responsible for troubleshooting and researching when problems occur. Painter must be able to instruct on paint gun set up, part prep and paint techniques.

Essential Functions

  • Prime and paint metal products to customer specifications and in accordance with the company Quality Management System.
  • Prepare areas, set up equipment, and complete jobs timely and accurately.
  • Identify proper paint mixing and application techniques to complete jobs according to customer specifications while understanding the impact that different fluid tips, mixing ratios, and spray pressure may have on finishes.
  • Sanding, scraping, and removing rust from the surface if applicable.
  • Monitoring drying to ensure desired results.
  • Complete finishing with baking or other materials
  • Interpret Technical Data Sheets to determine appropriate techniques for each job.
  • Read blueprints and understand requirements for masking and plugging.
  • Communicate with production and shipping teams on daily schedule requirements.
  • Provide information to order and maintain appropriate inventory of supplies to meet schedule.
  • Troubleshoot and research when problems occur.
  • Adhere to all required health and safety mandates.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment.

Required Education and Experience

  • Highschool diploma or GED Required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of industrial painting experience.
  • Experience with using thickness measuring devices.
  • Experience/understanding using MIL-SPEC standards preferred.
  • Experience interpreting TDS preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Must have ability to communicate clearly and concisely using verbal and/or written communication.
  • Must understand painting techniques including paint gun set up, part preparation and spraying techniques.

Work Environment

This position operates in the production painting area. Exposure to liquid and hardened paint, various thinners, reducers, fumes, chemistry, and hear is normal. Job is primarily performed in a paint booth while standing and using arms at extended lengths. Candidate must be comfortable wearing respirators, hoods, or full suits for extended periods of time.

Schedule

Advantage runs 2 shifts. Currently looking to staff multiple shifts.

Compensation

The rate of compensation for this position is based on skills and experience level and ranges from $18-$25 hourly.
