The Information Assurance Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing IA and cyber security programs and policies in support of mission operations. This position will be responsible for monitoring necessary security controls and to track and maintain information to ensure that networks, systems, and devices are properly documented and managed from a security perspective.
Responsibilities:
Manages IA related support activities to enable support Combatant Commands (CCMDs) internet-based MISO
Catalog and assess security controls in mission-employed remote and cloud environments
Conducts IA program/system security status assessments and supports the development of IA program(s) including the development of IA policy and procedures.
Provides security planning for system development lifecycle.
Conducts system security planning and provides security documentation support.
Provides technical guidance and assistance to current and potential users on all mission-employed tools and capabilities to effectively mitigate IA risks.
Conducts qualitative/quantitative risk assessments.
Supports and leads the development of assessment and authorization documents and artifacts.
Tracks organizational IA compliance, ensures necessary remediation needs are communicated, tracks remediation through completion and ensures necessary IA documentation is accurate and in order.
Develops and/or implements corrective courses of action for findings identified during these assessments.
Skills:
Broad knowledge of social media related commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and Open-Source Software (OSS) tools
Understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud or other cloud related technologies
Understanding of data, application, and networking technologies
Inspect continuous monitoring results to confirm that the level of risk is within acceptable limits for the software application, network, or system.
Thorough understanding and practical expertise with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework.
Experience validating NIST 800-171 Security Controls; CNSSI 1253 Security Controls and Overlays.
