Job Description

ARCO, A COMMUNITY RESOURCE is a nonprofit United Way Agency that provides services for babies and adults with developmental disabilities and their families throughout northeast Louisiana since 1954.

GENERAL FUNCTION :

Job Coach –

• Locate employers who may have jobs available for men and women with developmental disabilities and who participate in our program
• Complete assessments (Profile) of men and women with developmental disabilities participating in our program and seeking jobs so that a proper job match may be made.
• Support and instruct men and women with developmental disabilities at their customized work site.
• Develop natural supports which instruct, supervise and assist men and women with developmental disabilities at the supportive employment job site including working with coworkers as well as managers.
• This person will work 35-40 hours per week according to the flexible schedule needed for such employment.

QUALIFICATIONS :

· Excellent reading, writing, and verbal skills

· Work experience in this or a related field

· Valid Louisiana license

· Dependable transportation available on the job

Demonstrated ability to:

· Articulate and follow ARCO’s philosophy

· Read, comprehend, and implement program guidelines and standards

· Learn new information quickly

· Move fluidly from one plan to another

· Process information under a variety of conditions

· Work with persons with developmental disabilities and family dynamics and respond appropriately

· Work flexible days/hours

· Organize work

· Work as a team

· Interact and work with other departments

· Respond to safety and related issues

· Communicate and coordinate with other departments in a positive relationship

· Assess skills/abilities/preferences of the participant

· Model behavior and interactions appropriate to community standards
