Job Description

LaSalle Network has partnered with a healthcare provider in Hebron, TX, in their search for a Medical Billing Specialist to join their team. As a Medical Billing Specialist , you will play a vital role in our client’s revenue cycle management by ensuring the timely and accurate processing of medical claims and invoices. You will be responsible for analyzing patient records, coding diagnoses and procedures and submitting claims to insurance companies and other payers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing principles, exceptional analytical skills and a commitment to compliance and accuracy.

Medical Billing Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Review patient encounters and documentation to accurately assign ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes for billing purposes
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, obtaining pre-authorizations and referrals as required
  • Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance carriers and government payers, adhering to billing guidelines and regulations
  • Follow up on outstanding claims and denials, researching and resolving billing discrepancies and appeals in a timely manner
  • Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts, reconciling accounts receivable and ensuring accurate billing records
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, administrative staff and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues and optimize reimbursement
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in healthcare regulations, coding guidelines and payer requirements
Medical Billing Specialist Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a healthcare or medical office setting
  • Proficiency in medical coding systems, including ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS
  • Strong understanding of insurance billing processes, including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payers
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to analyze complex billing and coding information
  • Proficient in computer skills, including experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, colleagues and insurance representatives
