The Branch Claims Representative (PD Adjuster) investigates, evaluates, and determines the appropriate disposition of all types of claims arising out of the Company’s business. This job also provides service to agents, insureds, and others in the course of handling those claims to their conclusion. Work is performed under general supervision.
Responsibilities
Investigate, evaluate, and settle entry-level insurance claims
Study insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to develop foundational knowledge of Company insurance products.
Learn and comply with claim handling procedures.
Develop skills in claim negotiations and settlements.
Effectively service needs of agents, insureds, and others.
Meet with people involved with claims, sometimes outside of our office environment.
Use technology-based information for reference, enter information into computer systems and develop specialized skills, including but not limited to property estimating, auto estimating, and use of computer-based programs as tools.
Obtain and maintain appropriate adjuster’s license(s) as required.
Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty claims handling
A minimum of one year of insurance claims experience is required. This requirement may be waived or changed, at Company discretion, based on prior education and/or experience.
Ability to write reports and compose correspondence.
Ability to accurately deal with mathematical problems, including geometry (area and volume) and financial areas (such as accuracy in sums, unit costs, and the capacity to read and develop understanding of personal and business finance documents).
Ability to effectively deal with a diverse group of individuals
Ability to maintain confidentially and data security.
Ability to organize data, multi-task and make decisions independently
