The practice of a physician assistant shall provide medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated under the supervision of a licensed physician.
Responsibilities
Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan including medications; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals.
Physician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical procedures at the hospital for affiliates. An emergency, for these purposes, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and the patient’s physician is not immediately available.
In addition, the PA must have experience providing diagnostic and treatment options for allergic diseases, performing allergy skin testing for adults and children, treating, and managing food allergy, asthma, eczema and allergic rhinitis.
Requirements
The activities listed above may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory centers, patient homes, nursing homes and other community or institution settings in several locations such as 1180 Morris Park, 1250 Waters Place, White Plains and Harrison.
In addition to the Core Skills listed here, PA’s will request validation to perform department specific skills.
This position is per-diem.
