The Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx) is seeking a Production Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Production Manager is responsible for the implementational logistics of all events in PRAx. The Production Manager creates the staffing/call schedule for each event, and is expected to manage implementation to achieve exceptional production values while ensuring efficiency across the organization. The Production Manager acts as the primary representative of PRAx in advance meetings with professional artists, partner presenting organizations, faculty ensemble leaders, and student groups, as well as with internal staff managing rental events or similar functions. (As time and capacity allow, the Production Manager may delegate advance meetings, particularly for the Student Arts Season, to the Assistant Production Manager.) The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that technical riders are fulfilled, and is expected to arrange backline and the transportation of equipment as needed. Under the direction of the Managing Director, the Production Manager is the primary individual who assures that all technical work and venue preparation associated with performances is completed on-time and in a way that maximizes the creative use of the facility and responds to emerging best practices and developments in the fields of technical theater, venue management, and arts production.
PRAX maintains a very rapid production schedule (over 160 events/year). The Production Manager will participate in the hands-on production of events for high-value or complex events, particularly those in the PRAx Presents series (~25 events/year). As a condition of being able to schedule and coordinate the work, this position requires an in-depth knowledge of AV and audio mixing, lighting, stagecraft, projection, and other production skills.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in field related to assigned responsibilities. Experience with information management systems, facility management, custodial work, staff training and staff supervision.
Requirements :
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Type:
This in-person position will work in an office and venue environment. The position requires the flexibility to work afternoon, evening, late night and weekend work when needed. Climbing ladders, lifting lights in high/overhead locations, carrying heavy equipment solo (up to 40lbs) or with others (up to 100 lbs or more). Work on overhead catwalks, tension grids, and in other theatrical contexts. Local travel to pick up rental equipment or produce shows in venues outside of the PRAx will be required.
Additional Salary Information: $57,475 - $74,500
