Program Officer - Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life

Requirements

The Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life is a unique effort to promote civil and substantive dialogue on Catholic social thought and national and global issues; build bridges across political, religious, and ideological lines; and encourage a new generation of Catholic lay leaders to see their faith as an asset in pursuing the common good.

The Program Officer (PO) is essential to the effective and efficient administration and operations of the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life and to the support and execution of its mission. The PO works closely with the Initiative's Director, Associate Directors, and Projects Manager in carrying out the Initiative's mission and programs and managing the Initiative's finances, logistics, and communications around programming. They are responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of, and follow-through on, most aspects of the Initiative's programs and events in consultation with the Director, Associate Directors, delegating to the Initiative's Projects Manager as necessary in the performance of his/her responsibilities. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Play a leadership role in the Initiative's Salt and Light Gatherings, including planning, promotion, programming, moderating, and related tasks.
  • Working closely with the Projects Manager, oversee and manage the Initiative's Latino Leader Gatherings in consultation with ICST's leadership.
  • Supervise the Projects Manager, including managing and overseeing the PM's administrative, outreach, and communications work.
  • Oversee financial planning and budgeting for strategic initiatives, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to advance the Initiative's mission.
  • Devise, track, and follow through on metrics for the growth of ICST's audience and network of potential participants for its Public Dialogues, Salt and Light Gatherings, and in coordination with the Projects Manager, Latino Leader Gatherings.
  • Lead outreach efforts locally and nationally to identify and engage new audiences and collaborators for these programming areas.




Work Interactions


The PO reports to the Initiative Associate Director for Engagement and works closely with the Director, Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives, and Projects Managers. S/he supervises one of the Initiative's Projects Managers.



Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of professional or management experience in a related area; Advanced degree preferred
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic Social Thought
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a complex, multi-faceted environment
  • Experience with event management
  • Experience working with vendors and partners from a variety of international backgrounds
  • Proven skills in time management, organization, and communication
  • Self-starter disposition with the ability to work independently on projects and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain grace under pressure
  • High degree of organizational and administrative ability and project management skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines efficiently
  • Proactive and team-spirited disposition, with ability to consult and make decisions
  • Collaborative work style and ability to receive feedback with a willingness to respond to an evolving set of priorities
  • Expertise in programs within Microsoft Office Suite

Pay Range:


The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13


Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
