Overview:
The primary responsibility of a Senior Litigation Attorney in our Firm is to handle a significant portion of the provision of legal services and day-to-day management and training of Associates, so the Owner of the Firm can focus on strategic planning, marketing, and sales to drive Firm growth.
The Senior Litigation Attorney works under the general direction of the Owner and has a broad degree of discretion with respect to control of cases assigned to him/her. As it relates to supervision of Associates, the Senior Attorney has only that authority that is specifically delegated by the Owner. The Senior Attorney works in conjunction with the Firm Administrator to handle administrative duties delegated by the Owner.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the competent provision of legal services including: legal research; drafting motions, pleadings, orders, judgments and status updates; and overseeing and analyzing discovery. The Senior Litigation Attorney may delegate to Junior Associates and Paralegals to accomplish these tasks, but remains responsible for ensuring the timely and professional completion of the work.
· Develop legal strategies and advise clients regarding their best legal interests, serving as the principal contact between the Firm and the clients.
· Represent clients at mediation, in deposition, and in court for motions, trials, and other types of hearings.
· Conduct new client meetings (also called case evaluations or initial consultations) for the purpose of selling legal services.
· Oversee, counsel, guide, train, and mentor Junior Associates and Contract Attorneys, including assigning work and monitoring work product.
· Assist with marketing, networking by attending functions, writing articles, and speaking engagements.
· Participate in semi-weekly calls with the principal attorney to discuss status of ongoing matters, workload, and other firm matters
· Work as part of a team with all levels of experiences
· Cultivate relationships with the firms existing and future clients
· Monthly case reviews
· Confirm vital correspondence and notices with clients and other parties
· Analyze case-specific legal issues and documentation; and
· Foster and maintain an excellent rapport with clients through consistent communication and thorough advisement.
Education & Experience
Be a graduate of an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the State of Florida. Be in good standing with The Florida Bar. The Senior Attorney will have experience in our practice areas, along with a work history that demonstrates increasing responsibility in a law firm or corporate legal department. Typically, the Senior Attorney will have conducted 5+ jury trials as a “first chair.”
