Job Description

Salary: $127,310 - 243,340 per year Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with a core quantitative curriculum.
  • Alternatively, four additional years of relevant experience beyond the minimum required may substitute for a degree.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in model validation, model development, statistical analysis, and/or advanced quantitative research; or an advanced degree (e.g., Master's, PhD) in a quantitative field plus 4 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in effectively communicating quantitative and technical concepts and conclusions to non-technical audiences, senior leadership, auditors, and/or regulators.
  • Strong coding abilities in R, Python, SAS, Java, C, SQL, or comparable programming languages for the iterative methodological elements of model and algorithm development.
  • Extensive experience with at least three statistical, econometric, data science, and predictive modeling approaches, including but not limited to Unsupervised Learning; K-Means; Linear Regression; Time-Series/Forecasting; Stress Testing; Logistic Regression; Simulation Models; Neural Networks; and Bayesian Estimators.
  • Strong knowledge of business contexts in operational and support functions of Banking and/or Insurance, accompanied by related modeling and analytics knowledge.
Responsibilities:
  • Execute independent model validation control measures for high-risk in-house and vendor models.
  • Utilize expert technical approaches to construct and implement validation testing plans.
  • Replicate model development and may create challenger models using various methodologies including predictive modeling, machine learning, deep learning, time-series forecasting, stress testing, and other specialized techniques.
  • Develop plans for model testing and data quality assessments utilizing various datasets, including large and unstructured datasets.
  • Review the complete life-cycle management of model development, implementation, monitoring, and usage within Banking and Insurance, including relevant business support functions.
  • Evaluate model inherent risk ratings, declassifications, the significance of model changes, and model change validations across all types.
  • Oversee and offer guidance to peers on model validation efforts.
  • Produce and present validation reports and related work to management, model partners, and senior leadership.
  • Implement model validation processes in alignment with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Assess model risk control strengths throughout development, implementation, and use.
  • Stay informed and develop professionally on emerging modeling techniques and methodologies.
