DSH-Patton Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least (1) Permanent, Full-Time appointment for the Supervising Registered Nurse (Safety) position. Under the direction of the Chief of Primary Care Services, Chief Physician and Surgeon, and Medical Services Administrator, the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) oversees the daily operations of the Medical Services Department. This includes leadership, direct supervision, and administrative oversight of multidisciplinary clinic services to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and compliant patient care.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, directing and coordinating daily operations across a wide range of clinical service areas, including Medical/Surgical Clinic, Employee Clinic, Public Health, Radiology, Optometry, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and others. The role involves maintaining departmental policies and manuals, ensuring regulatory compliance through audits and timely updates. Ability to interpret and adhere to The Joint Commission Standards, Title 22 regulations, hospital policies and practices including the Nursing Policies/Procedures and Administrative Directives. This position also reviews billing documentation and external provider invoices to ensure adherence to contractual terms and works closely with the Contracts Office to manage external services and budgets. The incumbent will collaborate with hospital leadership on strategic planning, participates in quality improvement initiatives, and contributes to hospital-wide administrative and performance improvement efforts.

- Prepare reports, manage resources, and coordinate clinical services effectively.
Knowledge of:
- Professional nursing principles, practices, and hospital operations.
- Medical equipment use, medication management, infection control.

License Certification
- Must possess and maintain a current California RN license.
- Must meet all requirements set by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
